Holy Ground

As I walk these hallowed grounds
I feel the sorrow of there desecration.
Forests fell and gave rise to this concrete jungle.
I stare at the cracks in the pavement.
The earth fights back as tiny blades
Force their way through minute holes.
My footsteps lack a feeling of genuine
And true reality, full of saccharin
And other artificial sweeteners.
I throw my shoes off and begin to feel
The soft, dew covered blades beneath
And in between my toes.
I breathe a sigh of relief and fill up
With nothing but pure gratitude for
Everything in my life.
I stare up into the night sky, I watch
The clouds drift idly by, stars disappear
Hidden by the thousands of city lights.
I beseech god and the universe
To please release to me their secrets.
I beg for my curse of hate to be lifted.
Suddenly it comes to me all at once.
Light spirals down and crashes into me.
I am lifted into the air, as the world spins.
I am filled with love and overwhelming emotions.
I am one, I am whole, I am complete.
Yet at the same time I am broken,
I am fragmented, and I am nowhere near
Complete.
But now I can see. I can see with eyes
Unclouded by hatred.
I feel my feet touch the ground once more.
I begin to move forward strafe by stride.
I understand finally. Just like that it vanishes.
A gentle wind blows and carries it all away.
A warrior is born, courageous and ready to lead.
I exit the concrete jungle,
I shove open the iron gates with incredible force
Into the unknown, I sail off.
I cross this border, pouring blood from my wounds.
At the edge of the forest I collapse.
Only love can save me now.
